Peter Siddle has been added to the Essex ranks for this summer’s Twenty20 competition, replacing New Zealander Tim Southee for the tournament which gets under way in June. The Australian will add some much needed pace and aggression the this Essex side, despite only playing two international T20 matches in his career.
The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the most consistent fast bowlers in international cricket, and his arrival at Essex will be a major boost to Paul Grayson’s men for this summer’s campaign. Those looking at the cricket odds online should remember this.

“We are delighted to have signed Australia’s premier bowler in Test cricket,” he said.

“Australia are looking keep him fresh for their schedule and for Peter, this will be a chance for him to enhance his one-day skills.”

While Siddle’s T20 experience is still very much in its infancy, just having an established international bowler around the squad will give the whole group a lift. Siddle has more than enough talent to be a very effective T20 bowler, however, and could well blossom into his role playing the short-format of the game for Essex this summer.

A productive spell with Essex could reopen the door to the Australian one-day sides for Siddle. The fast bowler has seen his ODI chances dry up of recent, despite Siddle still impressing with his form for the Test side.
