Bairstow’s brilliance the difference for England

England claimed a 38-run victory against Pakistan in their second Twenty20 match in Dubai with Jonny Bairstow once again showing why he is so highly thought of among the English coaching set-up.

The 22-year old produced an eye-catching innings of 60 from just 46 deliveries to help England to a defendable total of 150-7 from their 20 overs, smashing two sixes and five fours in his scintillating spell at the crease. That total was never in danger of being reached by the Pakistan batsmen, who were cleaned up for 112 as England levelled the series. People looking at the best online Sri Lanka Cricket Odds will be wondering if the side can carry on their winter form.

The young Yorkshireman had scored a well put together 22 in the opening match of the series but it was this innings of 66 that will have once again shown the world that England have a player on their hands.

The management will continue to give Bairstow his chance to impress in the Twenty20 and one-day sides, however, there will be some who believe he could well be close to a call-up to the Test squad, although that appears to be a bit premature.

Not only a big hitting batsman, Bairstow has proven for Yorkshire that he can carry his bat in the longer formats of the game, as well as keep wicket in increasingly capable fashion. Matt Prior is still doing the business for England at Test level, but the selectors will be well aware that Bairstow could well be a long-term replacement for the 30-year old.
