Reliance Mobile Test Championship:

Teams          Matches     Points     Rating
1 Australia           38……….4777……..126
2 South Africa    41……….4921……. 121
3 India                  43……….5071……. 118
4 Sri Lanka          34……….3680……. 108
5 Pakistan           22……….2197……. 100
6 England            47……….4624……. 98
7 West Indies    31……….2752……. 89
8 New Zealand  30……….2426……. 81
9 Bangladesh     23……….. .0………….0

England’s recent test series defeat to West Indies sees them slide down the International Test Rankings to Number 6. Following the Ashes win in 2005, England have won just 4 out of 15 test series to drop from number two to number 6 in the world in 3 and a half months. Despite possessing the second most points, the number of matches in which the points have been obtained has seen them fall below Pakistan, who are currently starved of test matches. The Australian’s continue their dominance of the test arena and rightly on top, with the gap between Australia and England widened to 28 rating points.

It is a worrying fall from England ahead of the summer’s Ashes series. With the Australian’s continuing to excel despite key retirements, England need to quickly address this slump if they are to challenge the Aussies. A two-nil series win against West Indies in May will see England regain the number 5 position.
