Running on Empty
Was Andrew Strauss right to deny Graeme Smith a runner in their recent Champions Trophy match? Strauss felt that Smith was cramped due to his long innings and no batsman who has scored a hundred deserves an advantage. Is this is the right spirit of the game? (more…)

Where did that come from? England reach ICC semi-finals…
After being hammered by Australia in the recent One Day International series, it is fair to say that the expectation wasn’t great for England’s chances in the ICC Champions trophy. However, after two fantastic wins, Andrew Strauss men have qualified for the semi-finals with a group game to spare and increased their betting odds of winning the Champions Trophy no end.
Not only were they the first team to qualify, but the two victories were against Sri Lanka and South Africa – two of the best limited over sides in the World. It doesn’t end there either. England’s win over South Africa means that the hosts were knocked out of the competition. (more…)

What does the future hold for Steve Harmison?
Steve Harmison has had a very enjoyable couple of weeks. Shortly after celebrating the Ashes win with England, he was back in Durham to help his side win the Cricket County Championship for the second season in a row sparking more celebrations.
The England seamer took the wicket which sealed the title – something else that has occurred in the last two years – and he admits that this is something he is ‘very proud of’. He went on to say that it is a ‘great achievement’ by Durham as a County. (more…)

England’s Ashes Victory – Player Ratings
It has been a few days now since Englands victory at the Oval against
Australia to regain the Ashes. Andrew Strauss’ men won the
deciding test by 197 runs and it was a fantastic day all-round for the England cricket team and English cricket.

at Headingley, but to write England off at The Oval is never that wise
and so it was proved. They were fantastic throughout and performed
well in all of the key moments. (more…)

Thoughts ahead of the The Oval
It doesn’t feel like it has been five minutes since the first Ashes test of the summer and yet here we are talking about the final one. It should be a cracking match as well with the series tied at 1-1.
England need to win to regain the Ashes, Australia need a win to secure the series, but only a draw to retain the Ashes. With all of this in mind, it seems fair to say that it will be a very tense occasion for everyone involved come Thursday morning. (more…)

Rain puts third Ashes test on hold
Regardless of what you are doing, persistent rain can be very annoying. When you are planning to watch / listen / go to an Ashes test match, you can increase this annoyance a great deal.
Unfortunately, this has been the case today at Edgbaston. The most important test of the series has been put on hold because of the wet weather. (more…)

The Ashes will be Flintoff’s final test series
The remaining four Ashes test matches this summer have now taken on extra significance. This is because they will be the last time that England talisman Andrew Flintoff plays the five-day game.
Yesterday, on the eve of the second test match at Lords, Flintoff announced that he would retire from test cricket because of his constant battle with injuries over the last few years. He will now concentrate on playing One Day International and Twenty20 cricket for the remainder of his professional career. (more…)
