The Problems With the Twenty20 World Cup
The Twenty20 World Cup got under way in the Caribbean. Like all international cricket tournaments these days it seems to be plagued with issues. Let’s go through them.
There are four groups of three teams with two advancing from each group. This means that the final group match while decisive is also a dead one. Bangladesh have next to no chance advancing at the expense of Pakistan, ditto for Afghanistan and South Africa. Run rate means that these games are effectively a waste of time. The last thing we need are more betting-related issues in the game.
